Transition Town Lower Hutt Incorporated is part of an international network focused on building community resilience and regeneration. Our base is the Transition Town Community Centre in Alicetown, which we run voluntarily on behalf of Hutt City Council.
Wainuiomata Marae
The Wainuiomata Marae was built by the community in the 1980s to bring Wainuiomata's multi-cultural community together under a banner of friendship and togetherness – “a 'house of people where people of all cultures and ethnicities could live in harmony under the guidance of tikanga Maori and within the spirituality of Pukeatua”.
